Problems with transactional replication without making a snapshot
SQL Server 2000 machine configured as the distributor. (All with SP3)
I initialize the replication with 'subscribers already has the data schema
en the data'
and I use pull subscription.
When I have finished the replication setup the next error occurred on the
Distribution agent:
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK__@.snapshot_seqnos__0169315C'. Cannot
insert duplicate key in object '#00750D23'.
I've disabled the whole replication and reboot the servers but the error
still appears.
What could be the reason of the problem I’ve defined?

problems with SQLDMO.dll
WinXP
when i build a setup for my application and then install this on a clean
WinXP test machine it all runs fine
but when i install it on a Win2000 test machine i get the following error -
the sqldmo.dll registers successfully - but just gives this error message.
[SQL-DMO]Invalid Paramter Type; must be string or ordinal......
i have followed all the instructions thru here:-
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;248241
but still cannot get it to run. any ideas as to what may be causing this? is
there different versions of sqldmo.dll that i need to run for win2k?

actually not that I'm aware of...
personally I've built my (InnoSetup) SQL-DMO install package on a WinXP sp1
box, and deployed with success on Win98, Win2k, XP and Win2003..
the list of files I ditribute is like following:
; not licensed by redist.txt but available after installation of MDAC2.6
..\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\odbcbcp.dll; DestDir: WinSys ; sharedfile
; not licensed by redist.txt but available after installation of MDAC2.6
..\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\sqlwoa.dll ; DestDir: WinSys

..\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\sqlunirl.dll ; DestDir: WinSys
..\Programmi\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\sqlresld.dll; DestDir:

DestDir: DestinationFolder\Binn\Resources\1033
..\Programmi\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\sqldmo.dll; DestDir:
DestinationFolder\Binn ; file to be registered via regserver
DestinationFolder can either be the installation directory of one instance
of Microsoft SqlServer 2000, like ..\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\80\Tools, even if no istance of SQL Server has been installed, or the
installation directory of your application, but the first is preferred.
Please do respect the hierarchy \Binn\Resources\1033 (where 1033 specifies
the language), where needed, in order to grant correct functionality of
Ole-Automation objects.
In order to install SQL-DMO components for MSDE 2000, Microsoft Internet
Explorer 5.5 or higher is required.

Problems with SQL Installation when certificate is installed
I am trying to setup SQL Server on a machine with a certificate. During the
installation I get the following error:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]SSL Security e
rror
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]ConnectionOpen
(SECDoClientHandshake()).
SQL Server configuration failed.
Now, I know that this is a problem with SQL Server and has been documented
in KB309398
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;EN-US;309398
But the solution that it suggests involves removing of the certificate and
then installing SQL and Service pack.
The certificate that I have installed has a private key and cannot be fully
exported to a file.
So I cannot delete the certificate.
Is there any alternative way to disable certificates during installation or
any way of installing SQL on a machine with a certificate.
Thanks in advanceAre you running SQL 2000 sp3?
Use the Client Network Utility and Disable or Uncheck Shared Memory.
Thanks,
Kevin McDonnell

to the default but not named. You seem to have the other way around. One mor
e thing you can check is
the netlib configuration. Except for that, I'm out of ideas, I'm afraid.

Exactly which service-pack level of SQL 2000 do you have? You can view
this on the first line of
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG
(if this is the instance directory for SQL 2000.)
I believe you need at least SP3 (8.00.760 to run in parallel with SQL 2005.)
Another thing to try is to open the Server and Client Network Utilities of
SQL 2000, and make sure that both use TCP/IP. For local connections,
shared memory is the default, but if it for some reason does not work, you
can try TCP/IP.

Problems with debugging remotely SQLCLR stored procedures?
Hello,
my username is se\levalencia, I had before the database on my machine, but as now we have a server I backed up the database and restored on the server, it seems that it has the sames logins and security users,
Its strange because the user dbo is assigned the user se\levalencia on the server, and I cant alter the user dbo.
The user dbo should be the login sa? I am in big trouble with this, beacuase I cant debug my sql clr stored procedure.
T-Sql execution ended without debugging. You may have not have sufficient permissions to debug.
I am using a connection with windows authentication, so it means that its sending tha tokes as se\levalencia to the server.
Please feel free to ask for more information about it. Thanks
More strange yet, I just changed the connection and put SA as the user which executes the sql clr stored procedure, I got the same problem, its supposed to be a super user.
|||You would need to add se\levalencia as a member of sysadmin role on the server. For debugging T-SQL as well as SQLCLR the debugger needs to run under an account that is a member of sysadmin role on SQL Server.

Problems when Oracle running on same machine
I was deploying my Report Model in Visual Studio but got an error that it couldnt connect to my Report Server while it was running.
When i typed the address of my ReportServer I got an error, then when I typed the name of the localhost got an Oracle screen. So then I decided to turn off all the Oracle things running on the machine. Then when I tried to deploy again it worked and I could go to my ReportServer without problems.
I assume you aren't trying to build a Report Model on top of Oracle, it just happens to be running. The only thing I can think is that Oracle is taking over the HTTP port configured for Reporting Services.|||I think this is the reason as well, I just wanted to point this out to other users that they should look at this when they cannot connect to their ReportServer when Oracle is running. Is there a way that I can give preference to Microsoft instead of Oracle ?|||I'm not very familiar with Oracle's HTTP stack. You don't mention which version of Oracle you are using but 10g comes with a modified version of Apache called OHS. I think there are configurations where you can tell it to listen on a port not managed by IIS.|||<a href= http://voip-forum.tmcnet.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=55428&PN=1&TPN=1 >Enter here</a>Problems using SQL 2005

I then got the following message: "Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the web site administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider."
I did that. I did it with windows authentication, and with SQL server authentication (as the administrator). I did it with the default database, and with one I created. At some point, a new database was created, aspnetdb, but I can't get the setting right, I can't connect to it.
When I run aspnet_regsql, I get the following message: "You should now configure the provider for membership, profiles, role, personalization and SQL Web event provider to reflect the changes you made in this wizard" and so on...
So what could I be doing wrong? How do I configure this for SQL 2005? Also, the database that's created. Can this be used by all the websites I develop? Or do I need a separate database per website? What are my other options besides SQL or SQL Express? Can I use Access? Anything else?
I would appreciate any help you can give me!

More than likely your server won't accept remote connections. Start here:

I'm following the
Video Series: Visual Web Developer for Beginners video to use login controls. I click on Website-> ASP.NET Configuration, then on the Security tab. I get the following message: "There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the buttom below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store."
"The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Unable to connect to SQL Server database."
I clicked on the button to choose data store, selected "Select a single provider for all site management data", clicked the radiobutton for AspNetSqlProvider, then clicked test.
I then got the following message: "Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the web site administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider."
